MILES OF TRAILS !
Boarders and Students enjoy the convenience of direct passage from Hampton Cove Equestrian Center onto the Big Cove Greenway. Dedicated trails in the Equestrian Parklands wind beautifully along Big Cove Creek and continue on into the Hays Nature Preserve along the Flint River. Special trail class lessons are offered to students upon achieving proficient riding skills, and the resident boarders delight in spontaneous outings as the weather invites.
"Do not go where the path may lead,
go instead where there is no path
and leave a trail."
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
The gift of approximately 540 acres of woodland, bottomland, and reclaimed farmland now known as the J.D. and Annie S. Hays Nature Preserve was accepted by the City of Huntsville in January 2000. Areas for canoeing on the Flint River, picnic areas and trails already existed on the property, and it is proposed that more hiking and horseback riding trails are being constructed.
The Nature Preserve is located adjacent to Hampton Cove, bounded by Hwy 431 and the Eastern Bypass, and is interwoven with the Hampton Cove
Golf Course.
THE COMMUNITY
Recreational opportunities abound at Hampton Cove where tough decisions involve "trees or tees?" A championship 18-hole golf course, part of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, lies in the heart of the residential community with an additional 36 holes across the road. Twenty-eight lakes, including the 64-acre Hampton Cove Lake, meander throughout the property preserving the naturally-wooded environment. An additional 750 acres have been set aside for the equestrian
center and public park. A 100-acre city park features soccer fields and baseball fields and has a concession stand. Membership in the Hampton House is a great way to enjoy tennis, swimming or working out.
